Week 1: What to look for tonight

Things I’m curious to see Week 1:

Adairsville at Chattooga: Both teams are breaking in a new QB tonight but will have a stud in the backfield. Eli Agnew for Adairsville and LaShaun Lester for Chattooga. Curious to see which defense steps up.

Dalton at Calhoun: Dalton is coming off its worst season in 60+ years and Calhoun has the potential to be very, very good this season with 4 D1 commits already this Summer. Curious to see if Dalton has closed the gap or if Calhoun is a good as I think they will be ?

Haralson Co at Pepperell: A lot of buzz around Haralson Co this Summer, especially the defense. I’m curious to see if the defense can stop one of the best RBs in NwGA.

Union Co at Fannin Co: Fresh off their Region 7AA Title I’m curious to see the new look Rebel offense minus NwGAFootball POY QB Luke Holloway.

Gordon Lee at Dade Co: Both teams lost a lot of production on offense to graduation. I’m curious to see which team which team takes the smallest step back, or heck even a step forward, headed into ’21.

Sonoraville at Model: If you like defense this is the game for you. I’m curious to see if both teams can combine for over 20 points. Should be a slugfest.

Temple at Bowdon: I’m curious enough to drive down and check this one out. Playmakers on both sides of the ball combined with being cross county rivals. Should be a good one.

2 Best Games on the Schedule:

Fellowship Christian at Christian Heritage: The Lions have quietly gone about building one of the best programs in NwGa. Winning Region 7A in 2021 and returning a solid core of players in 2021. Nothing would be better than starting their season with a upset at home of #3 Fellowship Christian, a team they battled hard for 3 quarters last year.

Rome at Rockmart: Hands down the game of the week in NwGA. Both teams are loaded with athletes and if 2020 was any indication this game will be a “barn burner” You might want to go ahead and head out to the stadium this morning a get a seat.

I’m curious to see how Cedartown, Cartersville, Bremen and Mt. Zion open tonight. All 4 are expected to compete for a home playoff spot in their Region this year and all would like to get off to a fast start tonight.
