We will look back at our 3 year history of the Upset of The Year in NWGA based on largest underdog based on Calpreps points system.

North Murray 31 Calhoun 7

The Yellow Jackets came into the game with a 139 game consecutive win streak verse Region opponents that stretched back to 2001.

North Murray held a tight 10-7 lead at halftime before scoring 21 unanswered points in the 2nd half to upset the Jackets on the road.

The Mountaineers came into the game as 31 pt underdogs and the win still ranks as the biggest upset statistically during our 3 year stretch at NWGAFootball.

LFO 44 Sonoraville 37

2020 wasn’t a big year for upsets on paper. LFO gets the nod in ’20 knocking off Sonoraville as 22 point underdogs.

The Warriors entered the game 0-4 and Sonoraville 2-2. Both had lost their 1st 2 games in 6AAA Region play but Sonoraville had played the 2 favorites, Rockmart and North Murray, and many figured this would be the game that jump started the Phoenix toward a playoff run.

The Warriors rushing attack was on point all night with 3 guys going over 100 yards.

Coahulla Creek 31 NW Whitfield 25 (3 OT)

2021 got started off with a bang as the Colts went on the road in the fog and rain to upset cross county rival NW Whitfield 31-25 in 3 overtimes.

The Colts were 27 point underdogs entering the game but a lot of people, including our very own Chris Napier, thought there was something special about this 2021 Colts team.
