What to look for this Week in NWGA AAA action.
The Tigers open up at Chattooga. Adairsville has one of the best linebacking groups in NWGA, featuring PreSeason All State Tokyo Gordon. They will need all hands on deck for this one as they try and slow the Indians RB LaShaun Lester. Look for Senior Tiger Eli Agnew to have a big game on both sides of the ball.
Coahulla Creek Colts:
I get the feeling something my be brewing in Coahulla this season. The Colts played 3 good quarters vs Chattooga in the Spring and shutout Gordon Central last week in their scrimmage. They travel down the road to open the season verse rival NW Whitfield. I expect a closer game than some might suspect.
Gilmer County Bobcats:
Head Coach Paul Standard left St. Pius for the beautiful mountains of Ellijay. They open this week against the Picken Dragons and look to spoil new Head Coach Grant Myers coaching debut. Both are coming off good scrimmages. Gilmer was tied with Fannin at the half and Pickens beat West Hall. Should be a good one.
The Warriors are coming off a 1-8 season and are looking to start 2021 on the right track. They host a rebuilding Heritage General team from 7AAAA Friday and if the defense steps up they might just pull the upset.
Murray County Indians:
The Indians lost a very talented class to graduation this Spring. A opening trip to SE Whitfield maybe just what these young Indians need to build some confidence heading into Region play.
Rockmart Yellow Jackets:
No hype needed for this one as the Yellow Jackets open at home against perennial power house Rome. Athletes all over the field in this one on both sides of the ball. Definitely a lot of interest State wide in this one.
Phoenix QB Jaxson Pate makes his starting debut on the road against one of the best scoring defenses this preseason in NWGA, the Model Blue Devils. A lot of buzz, or whatever sound a Phoenix makes, around this Sonoraville team this Summer.
OFF: LaFayette, North Murray, Ringgold
