#3 Rome Wolves vs #13 Johns Creek

The #3 Rome Wolves host the #13 ranked Johns Creek Gladiators in the 1st Round of the GHSA playoffs this Saturday at Historic Barron Stadium in downtown Rome. This game features one of the closest #1 vs #4 seed matchups across all classifications.

A closer look at the Wolves 1st Round opponent:

Johns Creek finsihsed the season 7-3 and the 4th seed from Region 7-6A.

Thier signiture win this season was a 40-32 win over #9 Riverwood who finished as the #1 seed in 7-6A.

The Wolves and the Gladiators do have a common oppenent this season, the Carrollton Trojans. Johns Creek lost earlier in the season to Carrollton 41-28, a game thrown together at the last minute due to Covid cancelations. Rome beat the Trojans at Barron Stadium 45-27 back in October.

The Players:

QB Kyle Durham (SR): Has passed for 2002 yards and 22 TDs and added 7 TDs and 371 yards on the ground. He recently picked up an offer from Jax St.

RB Tylan Johnson (SR): The 5’10 210 senior has rushed for over 1000 yards on the season.

WR Joshua Thompson (SR) The 5’11 170 Senior led the Gladiators in receiving with 737 yards and 14 TDs. He has found his stride of late with 100 yard games in 3 of the last 4 contests. He had a season high 241 yards and 4 TDs on Oct 15 vs #5 ranked Cambridge.

Defense:

DB Dubem Nwizugbo has offers from high acdemic schools including his latest offer from John Hopkins.

Soild LB core with 6’4 215 Senior Andrew Gurth , 6’2 220 Senior Thaxton Gallagher and Junior 6’1 215 Sam Offenheimer. Offenheimer averages close to 11 TT per game for the Gladiators.
