Section 3: 2022 QB Preview

4 of the 10 Teams in our Section 3 will be breaking in new starting QBs in 2022.

Dalton, Paulding Co, Bremen and East Paulding will have new leaders under center next season.

Section 3 is loaded with returning dual threat QBs

2022 Returning QBs

Central Lions: Devan Powell (Jr) Breakout Sophomore season for the 6’1 170 dual threat QB. 1461 yards passing/ 459 yds rushing with 21 TDs. Had a season high 274 yds passing in the 1st round of playoffs with 3 Tds vs Riverdale.


Pickens Dragons: Sam Streicher (Jr) 1353 passing/ 155 rushing with 14 TDs. A lot of big WR’s return for the rising Junior in 2022. 2nd Season under Grant Myers and the Dragons moving to AAA should allow for some big numbers.


Heritage Generals: Kaden Swope (Sr) The 6’2 185 QB had 1069 yards passing/ 737 rushing 18 TDs. Quietly went about being one of the top dual threats in NWGA in ’21. Lead the Generals to the playoffs in his 1st season as starter. Had a season high 238 yards with 2 Tds, added 9 TT on defense, in a 25-24 win over Christian Heritage.


Sonoraville Phoenix: Jaxon Pate (Jr) A lot of buzz about this young guy in ’21. 2193 yards passing with 658 yds rushing. Accounted for 31 total TDs. Had a season high 425 total yards and 5 TDs vs Coahulla Creek to end the season. Preseason All State Baseball player as well.


LaFayette Ramblers: Zach Barrett (Sr) Solid 2021 for the Rising senior. Had 911 yards passing and added 144 yards on the ground with 6 TDs. 2nd year under Coach Andy Scott.


Dade Co Wolverines: Brody Cooper (Sr): One of most surprising 1st year starters in 2021. Cooper passed for 1342 yards and ran for 324 with 16 total TDs to lead the Wolverines to 2nd place in Region 7AA.
