Section 1: 2022 QB Preview

We have divided our 50 teams into 5 sections this season for better manageablity and it will give us more opportunity to hightlight more players.

Section 1 is the Top 10 teams in our coverage area based on year ending Calprep Power Ranks.


A Look at the QB situation headed into Spring ’22:

Calhoun, Cartersville, Carrollton, Villa Rica and Ringgold will have new signal callers when they open the season in 2022.

Returning Starters:

Rome Wolves : Reece Fountain (Junior) 2312 pass/ 64 rush in 2021 and accounted for 20 TDs vs 5 ints in 265 attempts. Had an outstanding performance at the GaElite Classic game in December and is ranked one of the top ranked pro style QBs in Georgia in the 2024 Class. Passed for a season high 440 yards and 5 TDs in a win over East Paulding.


North Paulding Wolfpack: Boone Anderson (Senior) 2080 pass/ 179 rush accounted for 14 TDs against 7 ints in 253 attempts in Georgias highest classification. Had a season high 368 yards and 3 TDs in an upset win over Brookwood in September.


Cedartown Bulldogs: Reece Tanner (Senior) 824 pass/ 109 rush. Accounted for 10 TDs with 3 ints in 84 attempts. Tanner helped lead the Bulldogs to the State SemiFinal. Very effcient passer with a TD every 9 throws. Saved his best game for the 3rd Round of the playoffs vs Perry where he was 5 of 8 for 111 yards and a TD in a 39-25 win.


Rockmart Yellow Jackets: JD Davis (Junior) 958 passing 507 rushing with 20 TDs to 0 interceptions. One of the top dual threat QBs in the NWGA Area. Averaged a TD pass (12) every 7.5 throws and ended the season with a 139 passer rating. Had his best game vs Adaisville totaling 289 total yards and passed and rushed for over 100 with 4 TDS. A lot of weapons back for the Yellow Jackets and JD could put up some PlayStation numbers in 2022.


South Paulding Spartans: Kasen Wiseman (Senior) 2035 pass/ 289 rush with 25 TDs and 6 ints in 191 attempts. Turned heads in ’21 with a 300 yard 5 TD performance in a 34-32 upset of Rome. On the short list for 2022 NwGAFootball POY headed into Spring.
