A look at the current playoff standings as they stand now.
Region 5AAAAAA
1 Douglas County 2-0
1T Carrollton 2-0
3 Rome 1-1
4 South Paulding 1-1
4T Alexander 1-1
Rome gets the nod here at 3 with a 22-20 win over South Paulding. This Region looks like it will not be settled until Week 9 and 10 when South Paulding and Alexander meet in what could possably determine the #3 or #4 seed. The final week of the season Douglas Co visits Carrollton in what could be the Region Championship.
Region 7AAAAA
Region 7AAAAA opens this weekend with two games.
#6 Cartersville at #11 Cass
#7 Calhoun visits Hiram.

Region 7AAAA
All 6 teams get underway this Friday in Region play.
Pickens Co at #9 Cedartown;
Heritage at Ridgeland;
NW Whitfield at Central Carrollton:
Barring any big upsets Cedartown and Heritage should move to 1-0.
The big one is Friday in Carrollton; NW Whitfield comes in 4-0 and ranked #6 in the AJC poll. Central has been playing well the last two weeks, knocking off a ranked Heard Co team last week on the road.
The winner of this one will be in the drivers seat to challenge Cedartown for the Region title and potentially host a playoff game in late November.
Region 6AAA
1 #8 Rockmart 2-0
1T North Murray 2-0
1T Adairsville 2-0
4 LaFayette 2-1
4T Ringgold 2-1
Big one this Friday when the Mountaineers host Rockmart. Both teams come in as defending Champs from 2019 in their respective Regions and the winner Friday will be the odds on favorite to repeat in 2020.
Adairsville (2-0) travels to Ringgold (2-1) Friday in the battle of the Tigers. Adairsville has looked impressive on both sides of the ball in their opening 2 region games. They can’t look past Ringgold. The Ringgold version of the Tigers have a potent offense behind Kori Dumas and leading tackler Kyle White on defense and would like nothing better than to spoil Adairsville shot at a Region crown.
Don’t count them out: Sonoraville Phoenix (0-2) The Phoenix fell short against the top 2 teams in the Region in weeks 1 and 2. They will be dangerous down the stretch behind senior QB Brady Lackey and I wouldn’t be shocked if they ran the table.
Region 7AAA
The only team we follow in this Region is Gilmer Co but we will keep you updated on with the Bobcats.
Gilmer fought hard last week on the road at Cherokee Bluffs with 5 starting OL out. They have a good chance to get back to .500 in the Region this week when they host a 0-4 Lumpkin Co team.

Region 5AA
The highly anticipated Region 5AA schedule begins next week. I can’t wait.
Region 7AA
1 Fannin Co 1-0
1T Pepperell 1-0
3T Coosa 0-0
3T Chattooga 0-0
3T Model 0-0
Fannin Co (1-0) at Pepperell (1-0)
No way to sugar coat it..Friday is a big one. Many people who follow 7AA in NWGA have been waiting for this matchup since the new Region alignment was announced last Spring. I’m going to go out on a limb, a sturdy one, and say the winner of this one wins the 7AA Title.
Model (0-0) at Coosa (0-0): The winner of this one will be in good shape to make a run at a postseason game and challenge for the Region title.
Chattooga (0-0): Still under Covid quarantine. We will have to wait until next week to get a look at the Indians, about 5 times in 18 days.

7A Private
Still a couple week away until this 5 team Region gets underway. Looks like its going to be 3 team shoot out between #6 Christian Heritage, #14 Darlington and #4 North Cobb Christian.
6A Public
Only 1 game in the books so far. Bowdon beat Trion 42-20 last week to be the only team in the 6 team Region to be 1-0.
This Week:
Armuchee (0-0) at Mt. Zion (0-0): In a 6 team region this is a big one for both teams. The Mt. Zion Eagles have started the season at 5-0 and a win puts them in a hunt to compete for the Region title. Armuchee needs this win to accomplish their goal of making the post season.
#14 Gordon Lee (0-0) at Bowdon (1-0): The Gordon Lee Trojans are starting to catch the attention of fans around the State. They lead NWGA in scoring at 45 pts a game and head to Bowdon to face the preseason favorite Red Devils who looked healthy last week for the 1st time this season.
