5AA
#7 Haralson Co. Rebels (1-0)
The Rebels started out in a hole last week down 14-0 but outscored the Pepperell Dragons 43-10 down the stretch to open 2021 1-0. QB Clay Hyatt had 180+ yds rushing and threw for 2 TDs to go along with 16 TT on defense. DL Riley Bell added 12 TT.
This Week: The Rebels are once again on the road, this time to Manchester (0-0). Haralson Co won this game last season 32-0.
#15 Bremen Blue Devils (1-0)
The Devils won their opener 14-12 vs Landmark Christian in front of the home crowd. Senior QB Christian Burks accounted for 250yds total offense and Junior RB Dilon McCoy went over the 100 yd mark rushing.
This Week: Bremen travels to cross county rival #6 A Bowdon in what should be a knock down drag out.
Heard Co. Braves (1-0)
The Braves won a hard fought defensive battle 16-12 over Region 6AA defending Champ South Atlanta.
This Week: They host the Pepperell Dragons from Region 7AA.
Temple Tigers (0-1)
The Tigers played 3 good quarters in a 34-14 loss to Bowdon, actually outscoring the Devils 14-7, the 3rd Q got away from them. Junior QB Cam Vaughn is worth the price of admission.
This Week: Temple travels next door to face AAAAA Villa Rica.
7AA
#14 Fannin Co Rebels (1-0)
The Rebels opened 2021 looking like they want to defend that Region Crown with a 34-7 win over rival Union Co. Senior Ath Seth Reece had 167 yds total offense with 2 TDs in the win.
This Week: Copper Basin travels across the border for a showdown in Blue Ridge.
Dade County Wolverines (1-0)
The Wolverines upset Gordon Lee 21-12 in their season opener. Senior RB Cayden Cooper had 157 yds rushing and Senior DL Isaac Pangle had 10 TT with 8 TFL for the Wolverines.
This Week: They load the buses and travel over the mountain to take on the North Sand Mountain Bison.
Coosa Eagles (0-0)
The Eagles were off Week 1. They travel to Trion this week, NwGAFootball GOTW, to take on the Bulldogs from 6A. A total of 96 points were scored in last years contest.
Pepperell Dragons (0-1)
The Dragons started out with a bang last Friday, 14-0, in their attempt to upset the #7 Haralson Co Rebels before falling 43-24. Preseason All State RB DJ Rogers had 155 yards and a couple of TDs for the Dragons.
This Week: The continue their 5AA schedule with a trip to Heard Co.
Chattooga Indians (0-1)
A great defensive first half for the Indians vs 6AAA Adairsville but it got away from them in the 2nd half losing the home opener 35-14.
This Week: On the road at the Pickens Dragons from Region 7AAAA.
Model Blue Devils (0-1)
The Devils defense intercepted 3 passes but was unable to put together a scoring drive in a 21-0 loss to 6AAA Sonoraville.
This Week: The Devils are back home to face LaFayette. This will be the season opener for the Ramblers and 1st year Head Coach Andy Scott.
Gordon Central (0-1)
The Warriors dropped their opener to AAAAA Woodland 43-9.
This Week: Gordon Central’s tour of the big schools continues as they head to Tunnel Hill to take on NW Whitfield.
