Last Season: South Paulding won 28-20 on the road.
New Head Coach Maurice Allen takes over a South Paulding team that lost a lot of production from the 2022 squad. On paper it’s hard to say the Spartans will have a better season when they lost two All State players and a D1 QB to graduation. They have proven this Summer in 7 on 7 and padded camps that they have a bunch of hungry young guys ready to step up and compete.
Rising Soph Kade Wigginton is set to take over the reins at QB. He impressed the staff this Summer at Troy and earned his first collegiate offer. TE Gabe Bobbitt and OL Kai Keller are a couple a more Spartans that picked up their 1st offers this Summer. Headlining the defense is 2x All Region DB Thai Collins and you lose one Sanker defensive lineman to Louisville but you have younger one stepping in, rising Soph Jayce Sanker will be one to watch over the next 3 years.
The Harrison Hoyas are coming off an interesting season. They finished the regular season 3-7 but made it to the 2nd round of the 7A playoffs, losing to Colquitt Co on the road. They bring back experience on both sides of the ball. All Region QB Jaden Gnagy returns, who holds several offers including Austin Peay, as well as All Region WR Brady Kluse and Quintin Charles who turned some heads last week at the Lassiter 7 on 7. The defensive line is big. Anchored by returning All Region DE Collin Bellomy (’25 6’6 260).
Calpreps Prediction: South Paulding by 4
NwGaFootball Prediction: This game will be close. I think it comes down to how long it takes the new pieces at South to gel. I’m confident they will be battling for that #2 playoff spot by seasons end. I like the home team in a tight one. SPaulding 28 Harrison 27
