Freshman

We are only 2 games into the 2020 season but there have already been a handful of Freshman that have made a contribution to their teams that have caught our eye. Updated 10/20

Nic Hester WR (Chattooga) : The 5’11 WR has 300 yards receiving in 2 games. He debuted with 175 verse a very good Adairsville defense.

Ty Brewer RB/LB (Central Carroll): Ty opened up a lot of eyes last season as an 8th grader. He played very well at the LB spot on Friday in his debut verse Temple.

Devin Henderson QB (Cass): Comes from football pedigree and impressed at camps prior to Covid. Has helped lead the Colonels to a 2-0 start and upset of a Top 10 team, 1st time in 30 years.

Cade Williams RB (Rome): Memeber of a very talented ’24 Class at Rome. Only one game under his belt but the 5’11 185 RB showed his potential verse #8 Rockmart in the opener.

Sam Streicher QB (Pickens): If you followed football in NwGa the last few years the name Streicher will be familiar. Sam is the little brother of Pickens Co record breaking QB CJ and has shown these 1st 2 games that he may even be better.

JD Davis RB (Rockmart) Heck of an athlete. Kid can play anywhere you put him. Had a rushing TD verse Rome and caught 8 passes and had a TD against arch rival Cedartown on Friday.

Toby Maddux RB/FS (Trion): Heard a lot of good things about this kid from Coosa fans.

Martavious Collins WR (Rome): Big things coming down the road for this freshman. Scored his 1st career TD from 39 yards out in the Wolves 22-20 win over South Paulding.

Bobby Campbell RT (Adairsville): The 6’1 242 OL/DL has started all 4 games at RT for the Tigers.

Judson Petty ATH (North Murray): Never comes off the field for the Mountaineers. The 5’10 165 freshman starts both ways and plays special teams. Multisport athlete who is also QB for the JV Mountaineers.

Reece Fountain QB (Rome): Highly touted QB got his 1st start at Dalton. Fountain was 15 of 19 for 188 yds and a TD in a 24-8 win. Watch his film, the kid doesn’t play like a freshman. Very bright future.

Shaun “Mac” Nelson RB (Rome): Nelson got his 1st varsity start for the Wolves Friday night vs Dalton. He accounted for all 3 of Rome’s TDs (2 rushing and 1 receiving) in a 24-8 win.

A couple of teams out of necessity are having to throw guys in the fire early and they have proven themselves well these 1st few week.

Dade County: 1st year Head Coach Jeff Posten has had to rely on several freshman starters early in the season. Landon Williams, Caleb Massey, Kaden Moore, Braylon Sullivan, Eli Kimball, Jax Guinn all saw action in the opening game verse Gordon Lee.

Armuchee: The Indians have been battling some early season injuries that forced them to start some young guys in their Week 1 win over Towns Co. Jacob Seagraves, Ryland Steen, CJ Collins, Hagen Terry all started Week 1.

Waiting in the Wings:

Rome Wolves: The Wolves arguably have the best 2024 class around. No doubt these guys will be impact players very shortly. Reece Fountain is one of the Top rated QBs in the 2024 class. Shaun Nelson, RJ Hodges, Alto Moore, Martavious Collins all will be big time high school football players.
