2020: 2-8 (7th in 7AA)

2021 Preview: In their 2nd season under Coach Poston the Wolverines are looking to build on what they started in 2020. Last seasons offense scored 28+ points in 5 of their 10 games and Dade was only a 3 points loss to Gordon Central away from the playoffs.

Offense: The biggest challenge in the offseason will be finding a replacement for 7AA OPY Makinley Everett at QB. Rising 6’3 Senior Brodie Swader played well at QB last season in the game we saw at Coosa at if he gets the nod he will have a big target to throw to in 6’3 Junior WR David Cole, who was an All Region Selection as a Sophomore. At RB All Region Isaac Pangle returns for his Senior year along with Sr. Cody Williams. Upfront the Wolverines return a couple of All Region selections in Sr. Austin Sorrelle and Soph. Landon Williams who was a 1st Team selection in 2020 as a freshman.

Defense: The Wolverines return 8 starters from 2020 on defensive side of the ball. The defense will be led by 7AA DPOY candidate 6’2 linebacker Cody Williams ,who is coming off a recent State Wrestling Title, and his brother rising Sophomore Landon Williams. Rising Juniors Lucas Costley and Soph Eli Kimball got playing time on the DL in 2020 and along with All Region Sr. Sorrelle will give the Wolverines and experienced defensive front. Swader and Cole, both at 6’3, make up the tallest secondary in the Region.

NwGaFootball Take: Its hard to replace the Region OPY of the year and get better but if Swader gets the nod at QB from the limited action I saw the Wolverines may not miss a beat on offense. Experienced defense and the confidence they gained last season by beating Chattooga late in the season may just get Dade over the hump and into the playoffs in ’21 in a Region that is going to be very competitive this season.

Prediction: Bulletin board material.. I have them 7th in 7AA but wouldn’t be shocked if they are a playoff team at the end of the season, especially if the defense gels.
