2021 Outlook:
The Lions return the 7A Co Offensive player of the year in QB Christian Thomas. The rising senior had a breakout season in 2020 throwing for almost 1900 yards and rushing for over 400 yards with 21 total TDs in just 10 games. Complementing Thomas in the backfield in 2021 will be returning 1st Team All Region RBs Gage Leonard and Soloman Locke.
Leonard and Locke are great 1-2 punch out of the backfield. Leonard is one of the grittiest two way players in NwGa and Locke has the size and speed to be one of the top RBs in NwGa in 2021, setting the Lions single game rushing record (219 yds) in 2020.
NwGaFootball Take:
The Lions finally got over the hump in 2020. They won their 1st Region Title in the short history of the school, beat their arch rival Darlington and their only two loses were to were to teams ranked #7 or higher. They return a solid backfield in 2021 but have to replace several key members of their defense including Trey Kruse and Bryce Farmer who both recently committed to Shorter. The biggest shoes to fill is going to be Region player of the Year Evan Lester who was a huge contributor on both sides of the ball for the Lions.
Prediction: 2nd in 7-A Private; I flipped a 3 sided coin on this one. Christian Heritage, Darlington, and North Cobb will have a battle royal again in 2021 for the Region crown.
