2020: 6-4 (5th in 7AAAAA)
2021 Outlook: The Colonels enter their 2nd season under Coach Gates coming off one of the biggest turnarounds for our NwGa Teams in 2020. Their 6-4 record was only their 2nd time finishing over .500 since 2006.
Offensively Cass returns some of the top young skill players in the Area. Rising Sophomore’s QB Devin Henderson and ATH Sacovie White have big play potential and are two of the top Class of 2024 players in NwGa. They will operate behind an experienced OL with Martin, Pinson and Hyde returning up front for the Colonels. Juniors Connor Ray and Kaden Krause should get the nod at WR with fellow rising Junior Fredi Gdabe getting the carries at RB in 2021.
The Colonels return a lot of experience on defense. All Region LB Ian Lowe returns for his Senior year. The secondary returns Seniors Mark Perdue, Andrew Nguyen and Tino Jones. Up front Junior TJ Green returns at NG and a guy that could have a breakout season in 2021 is 6’2 235 DE Garrett Gonyea.
NwGaFootball Take: It was good to see the excitement back at Cass in 2020. Interested to see what year 2 is like under Coach Gates. A young, but talented offense, and an experienced defense should keep the Colonels competitive, especially in the games in which they need to be (Woodland, Hiram). I know they were disappointed last season not making they playoffs but I think this year they get over the hump.
Prediction: 4th in 7 AAAAA
