WEEK 8 Oct 23, 2020
Thing to watch for Week 8:
# Northwest Whitfield host #5 AAAAA Cedartown in a must win for the Bruins if they want to host a playoff game in November. Sophomore QB Owen Brooker , 2nd in passing in NWGA, will need to have a big game for the Bruins to pull the upset.
# Sonoraville at Murray Co: The Phoenix look to rebound after being upset last week at LFO. Sonoraville’s playoff hopes are hanging by a string and Murray Co would like nothing more than being the spoiler.
# Dalton travels to Alexander as 19 point underdogs. Rebuilding season this year for the Catamounts but a win here could give them some momentum headed into the the final 3 weeks of the season.
# Gilmer scored 62 points last week in the first half , a new school record, in a 62-7 win over Lumpkin Co. Tougher test this week when they travel to Region leading Dawson County. Bobcat RB Kobe Stonecipher has been one of the surprises in NWGA this season staying on the rushing yards leader board most of the season.
WEEK 3 Sept 18, 2020
NW Whitfield (2-0) at North Murray (0-0): Much anticipated season debut for the reigning 6AAA Champion Mountaineers. Much different look this season for North Murray without QB Ladd McConkey but they bring back a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. All Region DB Dante Tidwell will have his work cut out for him. The Bruins Soph. QB Owen Brooker tied the school record with 5 TD passes last week in a win over Gordon Central.
Murray Co (1-0) at Gilmer (0-1): Both teams had a bye last week and are ready to get back after it. The Bobcats will have to slow down the Murray Co combo of RB Davis Redwine and QB Kaleb Jones who accounted for 400 yards offense and 6 TDs in their opening week win over SE Whitfield. Should be a battle in Elijay Friday night.
On the Road:
SE Whitfield (0-2) at Gordon Central (0-2): The Raiders can put some points on the board behind Sr. QB Ethan Hill but they will have the tall task of shutting down big 210 lb RB Jordan Boone from Gordon Central who is averaging over 100 ypg.
Pickens Co (1-1) at #6 AAA White Co (2-0): Tough test on the road for the young Dragons.
