6AAA Playoff Race: Week 1

6AAA Playoff Race

The race for the 4 playoffs spots in 6AAA begins this Friday. The nine team Region has a lot of parity from top to bottom and no one week can be taking lightly. Every win is huge and every loss could be the one to keep your team from making the post season.

Week 1:

Coahulla Creek(0-0) at Rockmart(0-0):

The Colts are one of the most surprising teams early in 2021, starting 2-0 for the 1st time in school history. The Jackets are the odds on favorite to win their 5th Region Title.

If Rockmart Wins: Business as usual. The Jackets hope to avoid any major injuries going forward toward the post season.

If Coahulla Wins: Bam! 6AAA would be wide open. Sign me up for the Coahulla Creek ticker parade on Saturday.

Ringgold (0-0) at North Murray (0-0):

This has to be the game of the Week in 6AAA. Both of these teams expect to be battling for a home playoff game if not a Region Title in 2021. A win here goes a long way early in the race.

Whoever Wins: It would be good to get that first notch in what many consider to be a 6 team race for the 4 playoff spots.

Whoever Loses: Not a must win by any stretch of the imagination but will take some work to get one of the coveted Top 2 seeds.

Adairsville (0-0) at Murray Co (0-0):

The Tigers have had an impressive start to 2021 and look to keep in going Friday night in Chatsworth. The Indians have shown some flair on offense early and will need to have a big defensive performance this week to keep this one close.

The Skinny: This is a game the Tigers must win, an upset here would put them on their hills to even make the playoffs with some big games left. Murray Co could throw a wrench into the race by pulling the upset at home, much like they did last season when they knocked off heavily favored Sonoraville.

LaFayette (0-0) at LFO (0-0):

If there is one must win game in 6AAA this week this is it. The Ramblers are the favorite as they look to get back to the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row. LFO has the potential weapons on offense its just a matter of when the gel. LaFayette fans hope it is not Friday.

The Skinny: The winner’s playoff hopes are very much alive. The losing team will have some work to do with some heavily favored opponents on the horizon.

Off: Sonoraville (0-0)
