6A/7A Preview/Standings (10.11.21)

6A Public (10.11.21)

Last Week:

Armuchee 35 BEST 14

Mount Zion 30 Gordon Lee 27 (OT)

Bowdon 21 North Cobb Christ. 7 (Non Region)

Trion Off

Standings: (Tie Break is H/H or Calprep Rank)

  1. 2-0 Bowdon
  2. 2-0 Mount Zion
  3. 1-1 Armuchee
  4. 0-1 Trion

————–Playoff Line———

  1. 0-1 BEST
  2. 0-2 Gordon Lee

This Week:

Trion Bulldogs (0-1) at BEST Eagles (0-1):

Man it seems like the Bulldogs have been off a month since dropping their Region opener to Bowdon. A non-region 49-0 win over SE Whitfield and a bye week should have given the Bulldogs time to heal and regroup for an important 4 week stretch.

BEST has some talented skill players but are young upfront. If they can clean up some of the false start and holding penalties they have enough playmakers to make this a competitive game. Plus it’s always hard when you have to travel a couple of hours like the Bulldogs do.

What it Means: The loser will be in a uphill battle to make the playoffs and would need to go 3-1 down the stretch to slide into the 4 spot.

Calpreps: Trion by 28

Playoff Talk: (likely scenarios)

Bowdon and Mt. Zion have sealed up 2 of the 4 spots. Now it is just a matter of where they end up. They square off 10/22 for what may be the Region Title.

The other 2 spots are shaping up to be a 3 team round robin between Armuchee, Trion and Gordon Lee. Round 1 will be next Thursday at Armuchee when the Indians host Trion.

7A Private (10.11.21)

Last Week:

Christian Heritage 38-0 over Walker

Darlington 49-21 over Mt. Paran

North Cobb lost to Bowdon 21-7 in non region play

Standings:

  1. 1-0 Darlington
  2. 1-0 Christian Heritage
  3. 0-0 North Cobb Christian
  4. 0-1 Mt. Paran

——————-Playoff Line——

  1. 0-1 Walker

This Week:

Christian Heritage Lions (1-0)  at Darlington Tigers (1-0)

Darlington has been one of the most surprising teams of 2021. They have beaten some very good teams (Bremen, Heard, Heritage) without arguably their top player Patrick Shelley. The Tigers found a gem in QB Jake Payne who has stepped in real nicely. The Thompson brothers have been a great addition. Real good OL/DL…just an all around solid team with a great coaching staff.

Christian Heritage played a tough schedule to start the season but have found their footing as of late. Region Player of the Year candidate , Solomon Locke, is one of the top rushers in all of NWGA and the Lions are still led by 2020 Offensive Player of The Year Christian Thomas at QB.

The computer has the Tigers as 4 TD favorites. I have a feeling it will be much closer than that as these two have a recent history of final minute outcomes.

What it Means: Both have clinched a playoff spot with last weeks win. The winner here will probably clinch a home playoff game and a showdown with North Cobb Christian for the Region Title.

Other Region Games:

Walker (0-1) at North Cobb Christian (0-0)

North Cobb opens their region schedule as 35 point favorites over 5th place Walker.
