2021 is shaping up to be the year of the QB in NwGA. Several 1000+ passers return next season, quite a few of them will still be underclassmen. We take a look at some of the ones that we anticipate will have a big season in the Fall and as always I’m sure a name or two will emerge next season.
’22 Clay Hyatt (Haralson Co): Returning OPY in Region 5AA. Close to 4000 yards rushing over the last 2 seasons.
’22 Christian Lewis (Calhoun): Accounted for 2400 yards and 30 TDs as a 1st year starter last season for the Yellow Jackets. HUDL
’22 Christian Thomas (Christian Heritage) Region OPY and HM All State as a Junior. Lead the Lions to their 1st Region Title. HUDL
’22 Patrick Shelley (Darlington): Under the radar guy that has the size and talent, plus an experienced OL in ’21, to have a break out season. Highlights
’22 Mason Parker (Ringgold): Break out season in 2020 for Parker. Tigers have all the tools to make a run at the 6AAA Title in 2021 HUDL
’22 Jaylen Ramsey (Lafayette): Dynamic playmaker that can can get it done in the air or on the ground.
Just Juniors in 21?:
Hard to believe these guys have 2 season left.
’23 Robert McNeal (Bowdon): 2700 total yards in 2020 with 28 TDs. Region Champ. HUDL
’23 Owen Brooker (NW Whitfield): Threw for 2276 yards and 19 TDs in 2020.
’23 Seth Griffin (North Murray): 6’3 180 sophomore threw for close to 2000 yards in his 1st season as a starter.
’23 Cam Vaughn (Temple): 1000 yard passer last season for the Tigers.
A trio of guys had big freshman seasons and enter 2021 with high expectations
’24 Reece Fountain (Rome): The freshman threw for over 1000 yds after taking over the starting role halfway through the season. Definite next level talent.
’24 Devin Henderson (Cass): Carries himself like a senior. Went 8 of 9 for 107 and TD in Freshman GaElite game in December.
’24 Sam Streicher (Pickens): Threw for 863 yards for the Dragons in ’20. Comes from QB pedigree.
Look for these guys to step forward in 2021
’23 Chandler Desanto (Armuchee): Good WR corp for the Junior
’23 Reece Tanner (Cedartown): Guided the Bulldogs to the Elite 8. Strong arm and fast.
’23 Chris Roper/’24 Jon Gough (Adairsville): Both talented QB that will make an impact for the Tigers in ’21
’24 Judd Anderson (Ridgeland): A lot of buzz about this 6’6 185 rising sophomore.
’23 Matthew Waddell (Pepperell): Excellent sophomore season. The job will be his fulltime in 2021.
’22 Brodie Swader (Dade Co): Saw this guy live last year for a half. Looking forward to seeing what he can do in a full season.
’24 JD Davis (Rockmart): Taking over as the Yellow Jackets signal caller in 2021. Lots of potential.
