2021 POY

We had the closest finish for #1 and 2 in the 4 years we have conducted the poll. That includes a nailbiter in 2019 between 2 guys you may have heard of: Jaymer Gibbs and Ladd McConkey.

#5 Bryson Hill RB/DB (Rome Wolves):

Mr. Hill caught the attention of fans Statewide week 4 vs Carrollton. He had 201 yards rushing with 4 TDs , blocked a punt and returned a fumble for a TD in an upset of top ranked Carrollton.

He finished the season with 1160 yards and 17 TDs and was 1st Team All Region DB in the largerst Classification in NWGA.


#4 Patrick Shelley Ath (Darlington Tigers)

When we asked “Who was the best athlete you saw your team play this season?” Shelley was the overwhelming winner.

For example verses Bremen he rushed for 100 yards, had 88 yards passing, 5 TT with a pick 6 and forced 2 fumbles, one he returned for a 45 yard TD.

He is also an outstanding basketball player recording 29 pts and 11 rebounds this week in this 1st game of the season.


#3 Seth Reece QB/LB (Fannin County Rebels)

Seth set a Fannin Co record this season by being the 1st player to rush for 1000 yards and pass for 1000 yards in a season.

He finished the year totaling 2318 yards with 28 TDs in helping the Rebels win their record setting 2nd straight Title.

7AA Player of The Year

Placed 1st in the Fan Voting.


#2 Rob Brown RB (Trion Bulldogs)

The State of Georgia’s overall leading rusher in 2021 with over 2600 yards and 10.3 ypc.

Accounted for 2758 total yards and 42 TDs helping the Bulldogs make it to the 2nd Rd of the playoffs.

Ran for 448 yards in the 1st Rd vs Social Circle, his 2nd 400 yard game in 4 weeks.

Region 6A Public POY

Finished 2 on all 3 Ballots.


2021 NwGAFootball.us Player of The Year

Clay Hyatt QB/LB (Haralson Co Rebels)

2500 total yards with 44 TDs to help the Rebels win their 1st ever Region Title, knocking off a very good SemiFinal Callaway team, and their 1st ever playoff win in school history.

He averaged 12 TT per game with 14 sacks. Definite workhorse never coming off the field.
